Do You Have an Emergency Twenty?

I just got rescued by my Emergency Twenty last week. I keep a little cheap-o plastic business card holder in my car with a few extra business cards and one cute little hidden twenty dollar bill.

I thought you might like to have an Emergency Twenty yourself!It allowed me to get out of a parking garage when I didn't have any cash last week. It has saved me a bunch of times over the years when I didn't expect the kids to need more lunch money and other cash mishaps. Since I have lightened my load by not carrying a checkbook, it makes the Emergency Twenty all the more important.

Maybe you would like an Emergency Hundred? It's a personal preference. Anyway, set one aside for yourself today, and you will thank me later! It's another way that being organized means you are prepared for what life throws your way.

Thanks for the reminder. One time I went to get gas & when I looked in my purse I had left my wallet on my bed. Then I started just keeping a 5 bill in my car. Then that got stolen, can you believe it? I never did replace it. I like to keep an extra 5, 10 or if possible 20 in both my car & my purse.

I have a friend who keeps a $100 in his walet becasue "you just never know when you will need to buy someone dinner". He is now a executive at a global manufacturer.

My daughter found a $20 in her winter coat last week when we pulled it out of storage... you should have seen your face light up!

My emergency $20 has saved my butt more often than I can count. So does the $5 in quarters I keep with it.

(I've got a rather ridiculous "everything" kit in the trunk of my car. Clothes, towels, cleaning stuff....)

Emergency Money not only helps in an emergency it also helps curb your spending. I started carrying a hundred dollar bill in my wallet and instantly changed from feeling broke to feeling rich. When people are ordering lunch or buying things that my budget does not allow at that moment, I know that if I really wanted it, I could get it! So far, I have deferred or waited until new budgeted funds were available. I am going to get a roll of quarters because sometimes the one I keep in my ashtray get used up and I forget to replace them.

Months after visiting my parents, I found a twenty dollar note my dad had quietly placed in the pocket of a skirt I had worn while there. Touched my heart. Then last
summer I found twenty dollars in an old prescription bottle that my mother had left in my refrigerator when she last visited me and prior to her death in 2002. Being unemployed I really needed the money but could not and still cannot bring myself to use it. Just knowing it is there is a comfort.
