Lorie, you so eloquently expressed something I discovered more than 10 years ago "when I was about your age." That epiphany changed my life and fueled a fire that burns brighter within me each year. You are so right: We all have gifts & resources (tangible and intangible), skills & experiences, and a purpose & mission to make the world a better place -- somehow. Work is not just work, actions are not just actions, and decisions are not just decisions, but contributions (positive or negative) to individuals, to society, and to the world. As our fallen friend Sue Cullen told us, "we matter" and "everything we do and say matters." I am so proud of you and what you've worked to hard and diligently to accomplish. Even prouder of the deeper and broader meaning and impact you are seeing in your work. I join you in challenging ourselves and others to connect the dots and see how we make a difference and can make an even BIGGER & BETTER difference to others as we live out each day.

What a powerful way to pay it forward for all of us in this industry. You are truly awesome.

    Hello Lorie,

Rather than feeling like we did you a favor in reading your "lengthy" post, you should feel as though you did us a favor and public good for taking the time to write it. A large portion of any social battle is the lack of consciousness surrounding the issue(s). Thank you for not only shedding light on sustainability in donating, but providing actionable tips on how we can make a difference

    Best,
    Michael

    Howdy Lorie,
Goodwill knows a good thing when it sees it and hears it.
Love what you are doing for our environment and our organizing industry. Would love to place the info and logo found under "Join the Donate Movement" onto my website. How do I go about doing this without infringing upon intellectual property?
PS.......I felt your heart in that blog.
    Cheers, Sally

    Lorie,

What a treasure. A billion kajillion congratulations for reaching this level of TRUE success. A level of success that is based on intrinsic goals.

A wise friend and mentor once taught me: Clarity leads to power.

It is obvious you have found that powerful clarity for yourself, your family and your community. I am proud to be part of your community and to call you a friend.

    All my best,
    David

Hi Sally! I have spoken to Goodwill about your question and they are coming up with some guidelines for organizers to be able to use the Donate icon. Thanks for the question!

And THANK YOU, Patti, Elaine, Michael, and Dave! I am so honored and happy that you read my post and were moved to write a comment. I am so grateful for my friends who support me and encourage me!!

Lorie! you are awesome!!! thank you so much for sharing this! VERY inspiring. Your challenge is ON!!
personally, I just launched a site that helps organizations raise funds by doing yoga... my personal niche. Now to find a suitable nonprofit! Locally, I am working with hundreds of smaller nonprofits... time to amp it up! Thanks for the challenge :)
    see you soon!!

Lorie, I was in Tacoma for the Goodwill Delegate Assembly and saw the launch and you. Such an amazing, meaningful partnership for all...Goodwill, you and Levi! Thank you for all you do!

    Lorie,

What a beautiful testament to the possibility of us each fulfilling our own unique contribution in the world. Just take action - something - everyday, and go ahead, make it big while we're at it - is what I'm hearing from you, Lorie. Thanks for the reminder. Here's to the big and gorgeous game of life! I'm glad to have met you.

Lorie, you continue to inspire me! I will think of other ways I can give back to the community and reduce waste and consumption.

Lorie - your message is desperately needed in these times. I will pass it on and I thank you for taking a stand and putting your heart and soul into it.

Absolutely. Even better, use less stuff in the first place! (Which I say as I stare at my collection of 12 handbags. Sigh.)
